Hello Everyone!
It’s hard to believe this is my first message as Chairman of the WCRCC. I want to thank our newly elected Precinct Committeepersons for trusting me with this responsibility. I also want to thank our Republican elected officials and nominees for the November Election for your kind words and encouragement. It is my privilege to serve and I look forward to the challenges ahead.
Speaking of challenges, there are two action items we need to address:
1) The first is how we will conduct our May Executive Committee Meeting. With COVID-19 rules still in effect, it appears that we will need to conduct our May meeting using Zoom technology like we did the convention. I will prepare the meeting and email the information to our Area Captains and we can move forward. I will email the agenda, finance statement, and minutes of our last meeting to everyone in advance.
2) Second, we need to get signatures for Paul Hoffman (Illinois Senate 34th) and Kathie Hansen (Illinois House 67th).
The social distancing and shelter in place rules in effect will make this difficult. I will be reaching out to our Republican legislative delegation and to the State Board of Elections to see what it would take to waive signature requirements in this environment.
John Guevara has prepared the petitions (links below) and developed a protocol to collect signatures in a way that complies with the rules and state law:
We have six weeks… here’s what I am asking:
I need each of our PC’s to have a goal of helping Paul get 20 signatures for State Senate and Kathie to get 10 signatures for State Representative. Please note, Kathie’s 10 can be used toward’s Paul’s 20!
I do not expect every PC to circulate a petition. Instead, all I’m asking you to take 5 minutes out of your day and start by writing down everyone you know who lives in Winnebago County along with their address and contact information. Then just send the lists to WCRCC Vice Chairman John Guevara at vicechair@wcrcc.com. He will do the legwork to determine if they are voters and if they can sign and then he will work with each of you and take it from there.
The 2016 elections in Michigan and Wisconsin are the evidence that when Republicans are on the ballot, – even in places we’re unlikely to win – we increase overall turnout and can swing elections. This helps our county candidates for Chairman and State’s Attorney. It helps John Cabello. It helps President Trump.
Together we can do this! Thank you for trusting me. I know that together we will do great things for Winnebago County and the Republican Party and I can’t wait to share them with you soon!
God bless –
Eli Nicolosi
WCRCC Chairman
